Immediately upon receipt, the poppy seed stollen must be stored in a cool, cool place (refrigerated). Unheated, cool rooms are not sufficient. Please note the best-before date on the product label.
Good things shouldn't be changed, so we still brew our poppy seed filling by hand, just like we always have. The blue-black ground poppy seeds are added to boiling milk and stirred by hand – this is the only way we get a feel for the right consistency. The time we allow afterward allows the seeds to absorb the moisture: this is essential to producing a moist poppy seed stollen with a delicious and fragrant poppy seed filling for exquisite enjoyment.
